Recreation Ground Temporary Closure

Following a formal risk assessment, Old Catton Parish Council has temporarily closed the Recreation Ground to public access due to ongoing construction works and installation of new play equipment.

The assessment identified significant risks associated with:

• Construction vehicle movements;
• Active building works;
• Excavation and stored materials;
• Installation and commissioning of new play equipment;
• Unauthorised access to construction areas.

The  Council has also recorded incidents of individuals entering fenced construction areas, demonstrating that fencing alone does not adequately control the risk.

The Council considers that continued public access during the construction period would expose members of the public to an unacceptable level of risk.  The Recreation Ground will therefore remain temporarily closed until construction works, inspections and safety checks have been completed.

The Council appreciates that this temporary closure may cause inconvenience and thanks residents for their patience and understanding whilst these improvements are completed.
